Net orders for trailers fell 11% month-over-month in March, 2012, but for the quarter, were almost identical to orders in Q1 2011, according to Americas Commercial Trucking (ACT) Research Co. LLC.
“Every trailer category posted month-over-month gains in build,” said Frank Maly, director-CV Transportation with ACT Research.
“Coupled with the modest drop in orders, the total industry backlog fell just over 1% month-over-month. Despite incremental softness, the backlog was up 17% compared to year-ago levels. Industry backlogs remain supportive of current production levels.”
