SEMA Show, Day One: Global Tire Expo lives up to its name

Nov. 2, 2010

Looking at the numbers, there are more than 75 companies involved in the manufacture and marketing of tires exhibiting at this week's Global Tire Expo -- Powered by TIA.

U.S. companies number around 40; however, many of those are firms importing tires from around the world.

Approximately one-third of the exhibiting tire companies hail from China. India has five companies represented, and there also are tire manufacturers/marketers from Korea and South Korea, Thailand, the Netherlands, Taiwan, Canada, and even one from Australia.

Consumer and commercial tires are not the only products being exhibited in this hall, which is part of the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show.

High tech products look to be in high demand, as many booths are exhibiting the latest tools for the service bay and for the office. Tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) diagnostic tools are well represented, as are e-commerce companies offering help with Web-based marketing.

You will also find nitrogen inflation equipment; retreading/repairing products; wheels and wheel accessories; tire service products and equipment; computer system software specifically for the tire market; automotive service equipment; companies involved in scrap tire recycling and auto parts distribution franchises; tire and wheel cleaning products; companies offering car seat covers, floor mats, fender covers, etc.

The editors of Modern Tire Dealer will be there, visiting as many booths as possible. Come visit them at Booth No. 42092.
