New sizes for Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring line

July 19, 2010

Michelin North America is expanding its Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring line. Nineteen new T-rated sizes were launched earlier this month, and five new H- and V-rated sizes will follow on Sept. 1.

The Tiger Paw Touring tire is the longest-wearing Uniroyal passenger tire, the company says, making it one of the best values for consumers in the Uniroyal line.

"According to Reuters and automotive research firm R.L. Polk & Co., 13 of the top 20 best-selling vehicles of 2009 were passenger cars, while the median age of most vehicles on the road is more than nine years old," says Duane Thomas, Uniroyal brand category manager.

"In these tough economic times, drivers are keeping their vehicles longer, therefore increasing the opportunity for tire dealers to replace these tires multiple times. The Tiger Paw Touring line is the ideal selection for value-oriented customers; and now with 71 sizes and 92% market coverage, there is likely to be a tire for whatever drivers need."

The Tiger Paw Touring tire includes a solid shoulder tread block design, allowing for high-performance handling and stability in all seasons, plus wide tread grooves for effective water evacuation and increased wet traction. The new sizes have a sleek, new look designed to complement today’s modern touring vehicles.

The tire also features Uniroyal’s DuraShield construction, which includes pyramidal steel belts, insulating belt edge strips and a heavy gauge inner liner. All of these parts help the tire absorb impact, reduce stress, run cooler and extend belt and tire life.

The Tiger Paw Touring line also features TrU-Form technology, optimizing the casing shape for long wear, comfort and a smooth ride, the company notes. This technology helps deliver extended, even wear by equalizing stress on the contact patch.

The Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring line has S-, T-, H- and V-speed ratings. The new T-rated tire sizes began shipping July 1 and include an 80,000-mile manufacturer’s tread wear limited warranty. The new H- and V-rated tire sizes will begin shipping Sept. 1 and include a 70,000-mile manufacturer’s tread wear limited warranty.
