Double Coin Holdings Ltd.'s FD405 is the second Double Coin brand medium truck tire to receive SmartWay verification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
A drive position tire, the FD405 is part of Double Coin's line-up of fuel efficient truck tires, which includes the FT105, a product that was verified by SmartWay three months ago.
The FD405 is made of advanced tread compounds for improved rolling resistance and longer mileage, say company officials.
"This helps the tire run cooler and reduces fuel consumption, which can lead to less cost for a fleet while also benefiting the environment. In addition to providing fuel economy benefits, the FD405 drive tire has a deep, 26/32-inch tread with stone drilling protectors to promote long original mileage."

Double Coin expects to add more products to the SmartWay list, starting with the FR605, a steer tire.
"Other products will be slated for SmartWay verification based on market demand and end user requirements," say officials.
