Protecting Soil Health During Harvest: Advantages of IF/VF Tires

When it comes to soil health and reduced soil compaction, IF/VF technology tires play a key role.

IF tires can carry 20% more weight than a standard tire at the same air pressure. VF tires can carry 20% more weight than an IF tire and 40% more than a standard tire at the same air pressure.

"If a standard tire’s load capacity is sufficient, a user can reduce air pressures by about 20% with an IF tire and by 40% with a VF tire, resulting in lower ground pressure and less soil compaction," says Dave Paulk, manager, field technical services, BKT USA Inc.

"In some cases, IF/VF tires are needed for the extra load-carrying capacity with heavy equipment and heavy loads. Standard tires may not be rated to carry the heavy weight of combines and grain carts, while IF/VF tires, coupled with CFO (cyclic) capabilities, allow heavier loads at lower field speeds without increasing air pressures.

"The lower air pressures that can be run while still carrying the equipment’s weight will help protect the soil from traffic during harvest."
