Be a tire designer: Visit Conti’s booth at MATS

March 28, 2011

Continental Tire the Americas LLC is looking for feedback. The company is developing the next generation of truck tires on the floor of the Mid-America Truck Show (MATS) in Louisville, Ky. March 31-April 2, and show attendees are invited to be a part of the future.

Continental is inviting commercial truck operators and fleet managers to give their feedback for the next element of the product lineup – Continental’s first super single drive tire for highway use.

Following the successful launch in 2009 of the HTL1, Continental’s super single trailer tire, a new Continental super single drive tire is in the final stages of testing. The new product dubbed “HDL2 Eco Plus” and expected to launch in late 2011, will replace dual fitments and provide good fuel economy, strong traction and weight reduction.

“We are currently running two competing designs in a unique real-world test, utilizing our Untamed Innovation Tour mobile exhibit,” says Roger Stansbie, director of radial truck tire engineering for Continental – the Americas. “For the first time, the two designs under consideration will be on display at Mid-America and we are inviting the public to provide their feedback.”

The two designs will be on display on the exhibit floor and on the Untamed Innovation Tour 2, which is an International Lone Star tractor and attached 53-foot exhibit showcasing Continental tires and technologies. Show attendees are invited to come to the Continental booth, #18252, to see these tires and ask questions about their engineering features.

Show attendees are then invited to visit the Continental Tire Facebook page, where they can see additional photos of the two tires and leave their feedback. The page will be updated when the show begins at www.facebook.com/Continental-Tire.

“While our ultimate choice will depend on the tire’s performance and durability, we welcome the commentary of the drivers and fleet managers who attend the Mid-America Truck Show and use these products every day,” says Clif Armstrong, director of marketing for commercial vehicle tires in the Americas.

“This is their unique chance to give direct feedback to the 1,700 Continental engineers worldwide who develop our products – and to be a part of our tire development process. There’s no better place to do this than the industry’s largest trucking event, Mid-America.”
