What Tire Dealers Should Know

  • Hankook has built an integrated development network. Its Technoplex, Technodome and Technoring facilities connect product planning, research and development, simulation and final-stage tire testing.
  • EV tires remain a major focus. Hankook continues to develop its iON EV tire line and says internal testing found iON tires provide 77% more mileage than its non-EV tires.
  • Testing extends from the lab to the track. Hankook uses research stations and driving simulation at the Technodome before putting tires through real-world testing at Technoring, which features 13 specialized tracks and can accommodate up to 50 vehicles at once.

Modern Tire Dealer recently got an inside look at Hankook Tire & Technology Co. Ltd.’s South Korean operations, touring three facilities that represent different stages of the company’s tire development process.

The tour included Hankook’s Technoplex global headquarters in Pangyo, its Technodome research and development center and the Technoring proving grounds in Taean-gun. Together, the facilities show how Hankook moves from product planning and laboratory research to vehicle simulation and real-world tire testing.
