Astemo Americas Inc. has introduced SHOWA Performance, a new premium shock absorber brand for off-road trucks and SUVs, at the 2026 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nev.

The new product line marks SHOWA's entry into the four-wheel off-road market, building on more than 60 years of experience in two-wheel racing and suspension technology.

The shocks, which are designed and manufactured in the United States, are expected to become available in early 2027. The lineup includes three product families designed for applications ranging from entry-level off-road use to racing and custom vehicle builds.

“SHOWA has spent decades winning on two wheels, and everything we’ve learned is built into these shocks,” says Nathan Beskow, general manager of SHOWA Performance. “Enthusiasts want to push hard on the trails, dunes, rocks and track – and they want more control and consistency from their shocks.”

The new lineup includes:

  • SHOWA Performance ORC 2.0: Monotube shocks featuring a corrosion-resistant, Cerakote-finished steel body, a 45mm bore and a graphite-impregnated floating piston band designed to improve shock response across varying terrain.
  • SHOWA PSD 2.25: Position-sensitive damping shocks featuring a 57mm steel body and patented Hydraulic Compression Stop (HCS) and Hydraulic Rebound Stop (HRS) technologies. These features are designed to increase damping force near full compression and rebound to help cushion impacts and improve vehicle stability.
  • SHOWA SPIRE 2.5: High-performance, adjustable and rebuildable aluminum-body monotube shocks equipped with ARC 2 technology, which allows drivers to adjust low- and high-speed compression damping without tools. The shocks will be offered in universal and application-specific configurations, including coilover and non-coilover options.

SHOWA Performance also plans to demonstrate its technology through off-road racing and events in 2027, including King of the Hammers, the Ultra4 series and Jeep Jamboree USA.

The company's racing program will be led by Brian Novak, director of motorsport, with Sergio Pinillos scheduled to compete in a SHOWA-equipped 4600-class vehicle at the 2027 King of the Hammers.
