Cooper Tire and Rubber Co. and Findlay (Ohio) City Schools recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the new Cooper Tire Track and Field Complex at Findlay High School.
The project was first announced in April of this year when Cooper Tire made a commitment in honor of its upcoming 100-year anniversary to partner with Findlay City Schools to develop a multi-purpose facility while also establishing a monument to the company’s legacy in Findlay.
The new complex includes a state-of-the-art, nine-lane track made of sustainable recycled rubber, as well as a multi-use competitive field that will support other sports and general physical education while also providing a venue for additional student and community events.
“The new facility is impressive,” said Cooper Tire Chairman, CEO and President Roy Armes. “The design and construction teams and everyone associated with this project did a great job carrying out the vision to transform a cinder track behind Findlay High School into a real showpiece that athletes, students and the community will feel proud to use and point to as an example of the good things that can happen when local companies like ours team up with entities such as Findlay City Schools to create something special.
“As we head toward our company’s centennial celebration in 2014, we are pleased to have this project as a testament to our proud heritage here in Findlay and our focus on young people as our future."
