Mavis Tire Express Services Corp. has acquired Melvin's Tire Pros & Auto Service Centers, a five-store dealership based in North Kingston, R.I. The stores will operate under the Melvin's by Mavis name.
The acquisition gives Mavis more than 1,150 tire stores, according to MTD estimates.
Mavis is the largest tire store chain in the United States, based on the 2022 edition of the MTD 100, which can be viewed here, starting on page 34.

"Melvin's and Mavis both have a long history of providing friendly service and great value for customers' automotive service needs, which makes this combination a natural fit."
Melvin's was founded in 1974 by Jim Melvin.
The transaction is expected to close at the end of July. It's Mavis' third tire dealership acquisition of 2022.
This past May, Mavis acquired Moosic, Pa.-based Jack Williams Tire Co.'s 39 retail stores and 11 distribution centers. In January 2022, Mavis announced it had acquired Orlando, Fla.-based Action Gator Tire Stores' retail outlets.
