Order Reprints

Independent tire dealers in the United States performed more than 6.6 million cooling system jobs representing more than $900 million in sales in 2009.

The 2009-2010 Modern Tire Dealer Automotive Service Survey breaks down cooling system service work per store. The service represents 5.3% of all automotive service dollars.

Fifty-nine percent of the respondents performed this service, broken out per location as follows:

Average ticket price per job: $138.01

Average number of jobs per month: 19

Average yearly sales: $31,466

Average profit margin: 56%

Annual profit per location: $17,621

The MTD Automotive Service Survey breaks down the various service segments so that you have a benchmark to which you can compare your own dealership's performance.

It covers everything from air conditioning service to suspension work. Previously, we addressed engine diagnostics, exhaust service, brake service, battery/electrical service, air conditioning, chassis/suspension and shocks/struts service.
