Hunter Introduces New Maverick Center-Clamp Tire Changer

Nov. 3, 2022

Hunter Engineering Co. unveiled its new Maverick center-clamp tire changer at this week's Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show.

"The Maverick shares many features with Hunter’s popular, standard-setting Revolution tire changer, but keeps the technician completely in charge with smooth and fully variable operation," say Hunter officials.

The Maverick features "a simple, four-joystick layout that provides superior tactile feedback with one-handed control.

"An all-new leverless head utilizes ... a tool and hook mechanism for maximum wheel protection, while automatically articulating to maintain perfect wheel alignment. A lifting ledge in the pusher foots saves additional time and effort.

“Just as (Hunter's) Revolution (tire changer) raised the bar with fully autonomous tire changing, Maverick is doing the same for a traditional, technician-driven tire changer,” says Jim Hudson, product manager for tire changers.

“We took some great features from the Revolution and then designed Maverick to be technician-controlled - focusing on flexibility, speed and safety.”

According to Hunter officials, the new Maverick lets technicians multitask thanks to "timesaving features like the exclusive InflationStation, providing walkaway inflation and fast filling; automatic parking logic that gets rollers and the toolhead out of the way quickly without operator input; and a RollerLock center post that clamps faster and tighter with a patent-pending ball-retention design."

Hunter is demonstrating the Maverick tire changer inside its SEMA Show booth in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
